Privacy Policy

Hone (“Hone,” “we,” “us”) is an iOS app for taking and tracking personal progress photos, operated by No Glyph Studio, which is the controller of the data described below. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, where it lives, and the choices you have. Hone is built to be private by default: your data stays on your device and is only backed up to your own account when you sign in.

What we collect

We only collect what you put into the app:

• Progress photos you capture or import.
• Body weight you log.
• Profile information you enter: first name, birthday, gender, and height.
• Account email, if you choose to sign in with Apple or Google, so we can back up and sync your data.
• Subscription status (whether you have Hone Pro), handled through the App Store and RevenueCat.

We do not include third-party advertising trackers, and we do not collect your contacts, precise location, or browsing activity.

How we use it

• To show your check-ins, streaks, calendar, and before/after comparisons.
• To back up your data and sync it across your devices when you are signed in.
• To generate AI analysis, only when you request it (see below).
• To manage your Hone Pro subscription.
• To respond to support requests you send us.

We do not use your photos or personal data for advertising, and we never sell your personal data.

Where it’s stored

Hone is offline-first. Your photos and entries are stored locally on your device and work without an account. When you sign in, your data is also backed up to our cloud backend so it survives a lost or replaced phone. That backend is Supabase — a Postgres database plus a private, per-account photo storage bucket. Your photos are private to your account and protected by row-level security, so one account cannot access another’s data.

Third-party processors

We share data with a small set of service providers strictly to run the app. Each is bound by its own privacy terms:

• Supabase — Cloud hosting, database (Postgres), account authentication, and private per-account photo storage. Privacy terms

• Anthropic — Processes a downscaled copy of a photo to generate the AI physique score and body-fat estimate — only when you actively use that Pro feature. Privacy terms

The AI analysis feature

AI analysis is an optional Hone Pro feature. When you actively run it on a check-in, the app sends a downscaled copy of that one selected photo to Anthropic’s API to generate a physique score and a visual body-fat estimate. This only happens when you tap to use the feature — your photos are not sent to Anthropic at any other time, and never in bulk. Under Anthropic’s API terms, inputs submitted through the API are not used to train their models.

The resulting score and body-fat figure are informational visual estimates, not medical measurements or health advice.

Notifications

Hone can send optional reminders to help you keep your check-in streak. These are local notifications scheduled on your device — no data leaves your device to deliver them. You can turn them off at any time in iOS Settings.

Data retention & deletion

• Data on your device stays until you delete it in the app or remove the app.
• Backed-up data is kept while your account is active so it stays available across your devices.
• You can delete your account in-app, which removes your backed-up data — including your photos in cloud storage — from our systems.
• Deleting the app from your phone does not automatically delete your cloud backup; delete your account if you want the backup removed as well.

Children

Hone is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13 (or under 16 where that is the applicable age of digital consent). If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

Your rights

You can view and edit your profile and entries directly in the app, and you can delete your account to erase your backed-up data. Depending on where you live (for example, under the EU/UK GDPR or California’s CCPA/CPRA), you may have additional rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. Contact us to make a request.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. When we do, we will revise the effective date above and, for material changes, provide notice in the app.
